Question Problem tightening Tie Rod end

I'm trying to tighten the self locking nuts where the Tie rod connects with the spindle; after the nut gets up to the self locking ring, the bolt just turns instead of tightening the nut. Is there an easy way to stop the ball joint/bolt from turning so I can tighten the nut?

    thanks in advance,
    Nevin

Pinch the tierod end in the socket with a large pliers. That should give you the needed friction. I used and impact wrench as well.

Thanks, I figured it out, I took one of the lug nuts, which are the same size and thread as the Tie Rod end bolt, and since it is not a lock nut it threaded on very easy up to the connection with the Tie rod end, then torqued it down to draw the cone of the ball joint/bolt into the spindle connector, then took this nut off easily and then the lock nut went on with out spinning the ball joint/bolt.
