ECM Mounting

The manual shows the ECM mounted on the passenger side. I think others have mounted it towards the center. Any suggestions as to the best location for the factory ECM on the inner firewall? Also, what's the best orientation, plug-in pointed up or to the side? I'm not planning on installing a A/C.

That would depend on how the wires enter the plug . . . straight in or set at a 90° orientation.
Mine is mounted behind my glovebox with the plug connection to the left. It is strapped to the firewall with a piece of 1/4" styrofoam between it and the firewall for heat insulation purposes. It's been there 11 years with no issues. I did my own wire diet and re-dressed the wire loom with spiral wrap and mounted that as high as possible.
