    It's broken clean at the outer spline @ 260 wheel torque and 302 wheel hp. I was planning on up grading

    It's broken clean at the outer spline @ 260 wheel torque and 302 wheel hp. I was planning on up grading, but just going to fix and not beat on it so much.

    What gear were you in when it broke?
    What rear tires are you running?
    Would STI hubs with custom axles help?

    Well bro you convinced me to upgrade. I will send out my spare set of hubs to DSS and ask them to build me 2 sets of CVs, one for each set of hubs and next winter I will take time to remove the hubs (which I just installed!) and fit the stronger ones. I might as well buy a set of longer studs with that, just in case.

    Bummer! Same question as Bob - what gear were you in and what happened right before it broke?

    A guy we know with a Miata making ~140whp broke an axle at the last pro we were at. He carries spares and swapped it out in 10 minutes. The class he runs does not permit an upgrade, however.

    Considering you are one of a handful that have had this problem already, it looks like we'll be pre-building some axles to have as spares... not sure if we want to upgrade, for fear that the breakage would move to something more expensive than an axle.

    I was all for upgrading the axles, but then members here reminded me what would break instead (gearbox). I have a lot of track miles on my set (over 300tq) no issues yet, but I'm not doing standing starts or burnouts. I do have sticky race tires though.

    Pretty sure it broke in 1st on launch and burn. Sti stuff would be slightly stronger I would hope. I am going with same setup. Better to break axles than tranny. In a car you don't launch they will last.
