    Steering Rack Question

I have a 2003 donor. I've got the rack all apart, and already cut the piston seal off the main rod. My question is about where to place the weld to remove the slop. The previous discussions were all about the newer racks - mine looks different. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a 2002 and I did weld it. If you remove the pinion assembly from the housing there is a snap-ring that holds the valve body assembly on it(its like a plastic cylinder. Remove the snap ring and the valve body (you can discard it since you wont need it) once the valve body is removed you will see were the 2 shafts come together. Lock one side in the vise and use vise-grips to rotate the other end. You will see the spot then.
