    dash material

Since my 818 is a pure R and will never see the street, I will be mounting a sheet of carbon fiber/honeycomb sandwich material in the opening where the stock gauge cluster would be installed on an S. It will serve as the background/mounting point for an Aimsport or similar data logger/electronic dash. So I need to figure out the best way to mount the CF, which leads me to my question: does anyone know - is the dash formed of ABS or Kydex (or another type of plastic I haven't guessed)? Knowing that will help me pick an adhesive (no options for Kydex - many for ABS).

Failing that, I will have to use subdued screws, rivets, etc through the sides of the inner aspect of the dash opening.

    Anybody know?

    Thanks,
    Bill

Thanks, Jerome; mine (chassis # 114) is now a thermoformed plastic material. Fabrication would be easier if it were fiberglass!

if you are just using the aim dash that weighs about 6 oz... just glue the CF like you planned. Scotchweld should do the trick.
A well stocked beverage fridge is the key to any successful project.

Thanks, LongIsland; I'm sure scotch weld or similar adhesives would adhere to the CF; I'm less certain about it doing so to the plastic dash material. My suspicion is that it is ABS or similar and that adhesives for car bumper materials will work. The dash is pretty thick and I can actually experiment on the underside of it where such will never be seen.
