    Windscreen mounting on the R

I have a bit of a dilemma as I look toward eventually mounting the windscreen on my R.

When I received my kit, there was no windscreen nor anything which I could construe as a mounting assembly for it. Called FFR and they sent me just the windscreen. The manual of course doesn't cover the R, so no help there. In speaking with FFR, they say there is a piece of aluminum for this purpose. I have no such piece, and of course the aluminum piece schematic in the manual doesn't list anything for the R. Manifest is no help. I seem to recall seeing some pieces in one of the build threads, but these looked as though they were ABS or other plastic pieces like the dash.

Has anyone sorted through this yet? I'm not able to tell FFR what I'm missing.

    Thanks,

    Bill

there's no aluminum in my kit... there's a piece of fiberglass that needs to be trimmed to clear the front hoop support tubes. After that the plexy just bolts to the beveled edge of the fiberglass.

6Star's build thread shows the fiberglass piece installed and you can see where the plastic attaches to

A well stocked beverage fridge is the key to any successful project.

Thanks, longisland (I posted this same message on the 16th, but it didn't take for some reason). I will give FFR a call tomorrow.

Sure. Spoke with FFR today - they are shipping me the missing piece. The tech explained that the R windscreen mount is pretty much the bottom part of the S windshield, just modified so as not to include the upper aspect. I should have it a week or less - I'll let you know if there's more to it than that.

I'm still trying to visualize what piece they are sending you. I just have the Fiberglass Cowl (that I dread trimming) and plexi shorty windshield.
    Thanks- Chad

I have that, I was just trying to figure out what aluminum piece people were talking about. I guess there isn't one.

Is the aluminum piece referring to the hood support which doubles as a cover for the void cut allowing access to fill brake fluid?
I have one, just haven't mounted it yet

When I initially spoke with FFR, they suggested that there was an aluminum piece which I may be missing. That is not the case - I was missing the piece referenced by Joe above (as featured in post 2, as he reports), which I have received now. I will have to pull together my image of the correct mounting location and what needs to be cut. Neither the cowl nor the dash "fits" in a particular location. I'm sure it will work out fine.
