Would you go with a thicker firewall?

The upper portion of my firewall has a large hole. I don't think it would look good to repair it and replacing it is probably quicker and easier. I can pick up aluminum at a fair price in town. There is a lot of discussion regarding heat and noise making me think about going a little bit thicker.

Would you go with a thicker firewall (3/16) instead of the 1/8 given the choice?
    thanks.

As far as heat and noise ...no. Aluminum is transfers heat well and to cut down noise the solution is different materials vice more of the same. A sandwich of noise dampening material with heat barrier between two aluminum sheets is probably the best solution.
