    aeromotive pump

Has anyone had problems with the aeromotive pump that comes in the boyd tank? The one that came in the tank shorted out when I first put power to it. The new one sounds terrible and has blown the 15a fuse once but not again. I'm thinking I should do something before I bury this section of the car with interior.

I have had no issues with this one or any of them in the past. It should not be blowing fuses. You sure you did t miss a ground in the harness etc. I mean you seem very competent but maybe you missed something

The first pump was a dead short, this one was just very noisey. The fue is between the relay and the pump, not much else there in 6 inches of wire

Getting a new pump is not a problem, I just wanted to know if this was a systemic problem. It will be a chore to change once the firewall, seats and floor pan are installed.

Yeah I know all about that. My piss of junk supplied tank leaked after I got it all button up. I ordered Boyd and junked that tin.

Do you have fuel in the tank yet? Mine seemed a bit noisy when I was testing everything, but it was running dry. Once I had fuel in the tank it got much quieter.

That is why I think the first one failed, I tuned everything on with no fuel and I kind of seized up. The second was noisy until I got about five gallons in the tank. Hopefully it will work with much less fuel than that. In any case since no one else seems to have problems I will button it up.

You need to keep half in there, lower than two gallons seems to cause issues

These pumps are not made to run dry!!! Immediate damage occurs!

I figured that, but 2 seconds is not long and needing a half tank of fuel is not that workable.
