It was supposed to. Which is why I busted butt to get it done so quick. At their request too. But then they pulled the plug like most times. Oh well.

A very important piece of hardware came in the mail today. In keeping with tradition the next generation keychain has been acquired. The Hot Rod was Darth, the 818 was the storm trooper, and now this guy with the bat mobile. And, contrary to what the kids believe, the dark knight is actually dark blue, not black so I feel somewhat validated even though the bat mobile was black. . Of course there's always a chance I'm overthinking it.

Think Jeff Miller is any good? Here's a peek at the nose. Just zoom in on that reflection. Insane.

Getting so close guys. Does anyone know how to hook up the single bulb brake lights using the trailer light converter? The bulbs only have two wires but the bulb is dual filament and one wire is ground. Is it an amperage thing? The adapter has one brake and a left and a right turn input and then a just and left and right output. The problem is where does the running light get hooked up to?

I've done several roadsters with the rectangular lights---the two wires are for high filament and low filament and ground is through the metal housing. To accommodate this I make a pigtail with a ring connector then rivet it to the flat backside of the housing and connect it to ground.

Looking forward to seeing it all together!

Erik, running lights get hooked up to parking lights circuit. Ground from the lights goes to the frame. Both the Brake and Turn go to the trailer adapter. You can give me a call again if you want. Also confirm, you have the LED tail lights from FFR>? and that you swapped out the flasher unit with the one provided by FFR??

That's what I thought Jeff! Thanks! I figured you had to ground the frame but there's no mention of it anywhere.

Erik, I don't think I got the bulbs but I did get the flasher relays. Put the windshield on today guys and it looks so nice without the rollbar. The paint is just so good you could almost drink it. Miller did a mesmerizing job.

Thanks everyone. It wouldn't have been possible without these wonderful people: (in no particular order)

Erik Treves- thanks for setting the bar and taking all my calls and texts. You are a trail blazer; it's no wonder FFR gives you first models. They know it will be done right
Jeff Miller- what can I say but you're a master craftsman and a fantastic friend. I enjoy all our conversations. Thanks for letting me help.
Tony Zullo- once again I'm going to take some credit in that Dave asked if I'd recommend you for a job there. I replied "hell yes" but never thought you'd make as much as a difference as you have over there. It's been amazing. Thanks for all your help.
Andy Star- you are amazing my friend. I never thought I could completely set up fuel injection on my own but you and the Hilborn team made it easy! Love my system.
Bryan Hayes- (OC Cars)- thanks for helping me build my first motor from ground up!
Dave Hodgkins- thanks for always being there bro!
Glenn, Karen, John- my extended family. Thanks for all the help this last year. Looking forward to many miles with you guys!
Dave Smith- thanks for believing in me man.
And last, my wonderful wife that helps make it all happen!! She's been unbelievable through all my builds and knows that it fuels my fire to work on cars. For those with great wives you know what I mean.

To all those here on the forum, thanks so much for all the great comments and kind words. This forum is amazing on how much support we give one another. It's a big part of the experience.

First 100 miles in the books!

So I thought I'd log my experiences of the car thus far. It's my first cobra so it's been very fun.

I've been to the DMV and am 2/3 through the process with B&L done with VIN verification. With the new process whereby you only get a one day pass to get Brake and Lamp, I've just been driving all over the place with that one day pass and will sign and date it if I get pulled over! My next appt with the DMV is the 9th so I'll get my custom black and yellow plate ordered and hopefully get my sequence number to do the SMOG/BAR meeting setup. For now I made a quick fake dealer plate that says "Perfection Auto" or something like that as to not draw attention. so far so good.

Otherwise I've driven to a few local shows and the car has been received pretty well. The color is what most people like. I guess it surprises me that there aren't more cobras painted this color! The problem I'm having is rock chips. My neighborhood is just lousy with gravel on the road and these wide tires just throw rocks at that rear quarter. I've got some touch up paint on order to match it perfectly and I'm waiting until after I get the first polish with the wheel completed to do the 3M clear protection.

One guy who works for Dan Gurney was about to buy an FIA to put in one of Gurney's ford motors did a 180 and said he was now ordering from FFR! The FIA wasn't even close to the quality. There's even been Hillbank who's been bringing their Shelby FIA down to C&C and advertising it for $134K! Doesn't look as good as the FFR kit IMHO. He said the same.

The shifter link I built does work although it's very hard to get it into reverse. While the car drives well without Power Steering, we have so many damn turns in this town it's not even funny. So I may be upgrading to the 87 Mustang pump setup. Any input there would be helpful. Especially if you know caster settings for PS and recommend the adjustable valve setup.

As for the how the car runs it's been pretty great so far. Nothing but small adjustments to fuel as it was running a bit fat on deceleration. I simply looked over the map on my PC and sent it over to Hillborn, he adjusted, emailed it back, and I uploaded to the car. Voila!

Beautiful car ! How did you raise the body ? I notice the clearance (above tires to body) is higher than most, and I like the look.

Didn't do anything to raise the body actually. The first pics were not at ride height but the last one there is after alignment and ride height setting.

As for other stuff. After racking my brain over why the car would smoke at stop lights, and after I took off, I decided to pull the intake and re-install. We thought it might be the EFI but it was oil so Nothing. So, I decided to take off the entire top end. Still struggled with it for a while seeing evidence of oil in the intake ports and lots of carbon on the valves. Thought it might be the guides or the valve stems. Turned out to be that the rocker arm studs were not sealed with thread sealer and it was leaking through there into the intake ports. So, hopefully it will be all good after I get Norman back together.
