Placed the order for a kit!

After almost a year of study and research the order has been placed for the kit. Now the wait for it to arrive begins. Hope to have details tomorrow as we just submitted the order.

    It's the basic kit
    Manual steering
    Pin drive
    IRS
    4.6l DOHC with carb conversion
    3650 Trans
Bunch of other donor parts from 03 Mach.

Ordering pin drive wheels from outside source
Ordering Smith Guages from outside source (want the manual odometer)

The pin drive and IRS were the important things for me.

Congrats, Chief from a former MM1/SS navy nuke. Be sure and post lots of build and commissioning photos. When I commission mine I may very well burst a bottle of champagne on her. If the wait is any consolation, you are about a year ahead of schedule on me. The DOHC 4.6 is a fun engine too. I miss shifting my old 4.6 Cobra at near 7,000 rpm as often as possible. With a carb setup your shift point will probably be around 7500 rpm if you dare!

Congrats on placing the order, Chief. Pin drive was also important to me, even though it could effect the handling a little. I went with a carbed SOHC 2 valve engine, and my only regret is that I will now have to install the hood scoop. (I wanted the street look-no scoop or side pipes) I look forward to seeing pics of your build!

Ok out of all the searches I did on this forum I never once came across a post that said time slows down to a crawl when you order the kit. Lol it's brutal.

Yes, it is, and this is only the beginning-especially if you're like me, and want to be driving your car as soon as possible. The worst is waiting for certain parts to arrive and it looking like it may never happen. Time stops. The transmission I ordered from TCI has the original shift lever cut off, and was replaced with a universal lever that clamps on. I had to order an original replacement part, and I have no idea if it will be days, weeks or months before it arrives. I'm REALLY looking forward to tearing into a brand new transmission (have to remove the valve body to replace the lever). If I don't do it, I won't have a park/neutral safety switch, and we all know how unsafe an automatic trans car is without one… Add that I also added a reverse light circuit to the rear harness, and it's also switched by the park/neutral switch.

The most frustrating part of my build has been things like that, and receiving parts that were properly ordered for a specific (correct) year model that will not fit. When my frustration reaches its peak and it's obvious that I'm ready to scream, my wife looks at me and smiles, then says the magic words. YOU HAVE A COBRA. Reality sets in at that moment, and… I smile.
