Deep South Cobra Club August Mountain Cruise

    From Ed & Lynne Gollob:

This will be our third annual Cobra cruise and Lynne and I have prepared a two day event which we hope is equally as enjoyable as the past two years.

Unfortunately North Georgia and North Carolina are a little shy of car museums and private cobra collections ( I am envious of the Florida tour) but we do have great mountain roads so this is a drive for Cobra enthusiasts.

Our cruise starts in Hiawassee GA at the Ramada Lake Chatuge Lodge which will be our home base. There is plenty of trailer parking.

Meet and Greet Thursday evening August 25th 2011 4 PM to 6 PM.

    · Friday August 26th is Day 1. The cruise starts about 8:30 AM and takes us through parts of North Carolina along winding roads, following the shores of Lake Chatuge, Fire Creek, The Little Tennessee River and Nantahala lake culminating with lunch in Franklin NC. After lunch we will spend an hour gem and ruby panning then on our way following Lake Emory and through the Nantahala gorge. Out of Lake Nantahala we follow the winding Nantahala river with great roadside waterfalls. The roads are just perfect for Cobras. If time permits we will make a brief stop at Cane Creek Winery, then just before arriving at the lodge we have reservations at the Brasstown Valley Resort for dinner.

    · August 27th is Day 2. Leaving the Ramada around 8:30 AM again we have found some great backroads of North Georgia and North Carolina. The roads are all paved and they twist and wind their way past Clayton, GA, past Pine Mountain, past Cashiers NC, and on to historic and popular Highlands NC. where we will stop for lunch. We have selected a unique and original restaurant. There are shops of all tastes along both sides of Main St. and we will take an hour to walk the town. The afternoon is filled with more just for Cobra roads including a scenic vista rest stop. Then on to Clayton and back to Hiawassee. Dinner is next door to the Lodge at The Chop House.
    · Sunday is farewell and have a safe drive home.

NOTE: Reservations at the Ramada are under the name Cobra Group.
There are non smoking kings and non smoking doubles reserved.
All rooms are $99.00 per night.
Our bank of rooms will be held until 8/11/2011 so make your reservations early.

    What to do next:
    (1) Make your reservations “Cobra Group” by calling 1-800-613-4349 1-800-613-4349 Ramada Lodge.
    (2) Send me an email confirming you are attending the event. I need a head count for dinner and lunch reservations.
    (3) My email is [email protected]. My phone is 770-330-1515 770-330-1515
    (4) Ramada Lodge is located at 653 US highway 76 Hiwassee GA

Oh, am I tempted? Am I tempted! All I have to do is convince Victoria to brave the possibility of torrential rains in August in Georgia. Oh, am I tempted!!!!
We had so much fun last year cruising with you folks, how can we pass it up?
    I hate temptation.

Saturday only for us. August is not a good time for my wife to take a vacation day. They haven't had enough time to whip those kindergarteners into shape and double teaming them at that point is a good idea. We can meet up Saturday morning in Hiawassee and be in until Sunday. Can't wait.

    John,

Don't hate temptation ... embrace it! You need to come out east again for this ride! We'll get Don Barnes to dial up his "no rain" device ...

Garry, we look forward to it as well. Are you planning on taking the coupe or the roadster?
