    Engine management for the EZ36

I need to make a decision on a system for the H6 engine I'm using.
I'm looking for opinions, advice, pros & cons ect on whether to go with the stock ECU and a Cobb or rom raider type system, or go with a stand alone ECU.
I'm looking to keep the system as simple as possible, no abs, air cond. or traction control.
    Thanks in advance, George

Are you planning on registering the car? If so, you will probably need to pass emissions, which would require OBD2. This leaves you with the stock ECU.

Registered my car in CA under the SB100 bill and did not require OBD2 for emissions.

Wasn't even thinking of the emissions component. I think most if not all FFR builders here in Ca register using the SB100 provision.

Cobb doesn't have an AP for the 3.6R. However there are a bunch of Legacys with tunes.

    Here's the thread for you!

And of course our very own Sponaugle is the EZ30 master tuner, but he doesn't post much anymore:

I don't know if they have done EZ36, but they have done EZ30R based on an email I sent them. With the US vs NZ dollar being strong the price looks quite good too. Link ECU

The "gramps" build (turbo 3.6) used a haltech unit on factory cam and crank sensors, they ran all the variable valve stuff, boost control and pushed it out to a can bus dash. I believe it's a 36-2-2-2 trigger wheel but different programing than the ej20's the heltec elite had to get a program update to run the 3.6. I know MS3 supports 36-2-2-2 trigger pattern but not sure if the 3.6 is supported yet and there is no support for dbw with MS3 yet. I am not sure if Wayne was using factory trigger wheels or after market trigger wheel for his set up but that's always an option if you want stand alone. The heltec unit looks promising and can run dbw but it is pricy at 2k plus with universal harness.
