Zero Decibel Motorsports, Coupe Style Hood Hinge

What: Group buy for hood hinges that swing the hood forward and allow you to eliminate the front hood pins. This version is the version compatible with the coupe front end. It also will work for the S/R original front end if you desire to add a mesh grille and need clearance over the top of the grill. The Coupe style arm is much more swept back to provide the clearance and, as it requires 2x the material it also costs 2x as much for the single piece.

Individuals wishing to upgrade their S/R front end to the coupe front end only need to purchase the arm. All of the existing S/R hinge parts are compatible with the coupe hinge.

    Coupe Arm:

    Cost:
    Full Hinge Setup:
    5-9 people: $240
    10-14 people: $225
    15+ people: $210

Coupe Arm Only (for S/R retrofits)

    5-9 people: $70
    10-14 people: $59
    15+ people: $56
To make it financially easier for existing customers to retrofit, prices for these pieces is only $10 over my actual cost. Mr. wonderful on Shark Tank would call me stupid. Good thing I don't like Mr. Wonderful.

    What You Get:
Two hinge bases (laser cut, bent, TIG welded)
    Two hinge arms (laser cut)
Two hood brackets (laser cut, bent, TIG welded)
    Hood Brace (laser cut, bent)
    Rivnuts for frame mounting
    Bondable studs for hood mounting
    All stainless hardware

Group buy will stay a couple of weeks depending on volume of response. 50% deposit due at the end of group buy. Lead time on parts is roughly 2 weeks after the group buy closes.

Original development and test installs of the S/R style shown here.
Matteos install can be seen here:

Dan's install can be seen here:

Coupe set for me. Where you able to prototype the glass hinges for the coupe also? I have seen them yet they might be the stock hinge setup just moved.

It's on the list of things to do. Not 100% sure what it is since the manual has no updates for the coupe yet. I have seen the same trunk bracket in the coupe kit so it might be similar.

I think you shouldn't call it "coupe", as all the 818s now use this front nose. Reading the subject non-coupe people may think it's not for them, but it is.

I was part of the old group buy for hood hinges, does it mean we start all over or only for the arms?

Count me in no matter your choice.

I'm counting anyone who wants a full set or just arms towards the total as the biggest expense is the arms. In my pricing spreadsheet I have the costs for all of the non-arm parts set at the 30pc purchase price (which was the original group buy). The only thing affecting the group buy price this time is the cost of the arms.

Craig, I need just the new arm for the new front since I already have your hood hinge. Hopefully this is the one more you need but if you need a full hinge order . . . guys, this hinge is really needed and it is beautiful.

It counts. I already ordered most of the other parts the last time around in anticipation of another go around of orders.

Four more and we reach the last level.

No. 40 pieces (which is 20 kits) is about the point of diminishing returns for amortizing the setup fees. 30 Pieces (15 sets) was only about $1 more per piece compared to 40 pieces.

I'm open for deposits at this point. Deposit is 50% of the total (not counting shipping). For the arms only this is $28, for those ordering a full setup it is $105. my paypal is [email protected] When you send payment please include your forum name and a note to verify it's for the arms or the full setup. I'll be placing the order for parts this coming week. It will take a couple weeks after that for part delivery, bending, welding, and assembly. Arms can be sent out quickly (they only require deburring and sanding).

I've got a little something planned too. Details to come.

    Thanks!
