    Post Your Weights

I'd like to start a thread of final weights. As ya'll post them I'll update the 1st post. I think it will be both interesting and useful to see how different builds turn out weight wise. I'll start with Chad's 818R. The format I'd like to keep:

    Great idea!

I'd like to make a suggestion to aid readability. This forum has a table feature that makes this kind of data much cleaner. Here's an example:

NAME MODEL Weight w/ driver Weight w/o driver LF RF LR RR NOTES
Chad Plavan R 2266 460 463 703 640 AWIC + Dry Sump. No passenger seat, Fuel Cell in passenger seat area. Full Aero.
    Mario Andretti S 1978 1800 460 463 703 640
    Richard Petty C 2122 1950 460 463 703 640
    All weights in pounds.
LF = Left Front corner weight.
RF = Right Front corner weight.
LR = Left Rear corner weight.
RR = Right Rear corner weight.

To make it easy on Sgt.Gator, copy, paste, and modify the text below when adding your info.

Adding a column for forum username would be nice so that people can hunt down posts/threads relevant to a particular entry.

Great Idea Evan78! It took me a bit to warm up my HTML skills but I think I got it down.

Yep. I'm hoping to see the FF goal of an 1,800 lb car posted soon, and how it was done.

So the center drive 818R weighs in at 1850-1870 w/o driver with almost perfectly distributed cross weights, mine is 1905 but a few more things to put on and take off and get better distribution weights

No hearsay evidence here! Please ask them to login and post a few pics and details on their build.

I understand. The intent of the thread is to be a resource for builders to compare notes on weights. Each listing has to link back to at least a builder here that can be contacted with a PM, or to a build thread.
Eventually I'd like to start a parts weight thread like we have on the Corvette Forum. Over the years it has evolved into a hosted spreadsheet where a modder can look up virtually every OEM and aftermarket part made for the C6. It works because there is a huge Corvette community, here we haven't reached that size yet IMHO to make it work. But I know where I want to go eventually. For now, it's just final build weights with links to the information or builder.

I'm going to try adding a build thread column and see if there's enough room.

I really think you could build a sprint car (30-50 minute) under 1700 with some effort. Alum cell up front, cut off the sway bar mounts (still have to do) no air jacks, CF body, smaller intercooler than ours, smaller oil cooler than ours, no diff/trans cooler or pump, no foam door intrusion stuff, no drop down flat bottom, gut the head lights, lighter wheels (ours are 22.5lbs each), gut the wire harness, ditch the dash for just an IQ3 or Aim and cut out all of the same metal that we did.

    Next time.....

Under 1700 lbs an NA EJ becomes very interesting and possible. No Turbo or Intercooler weight. With me in the car in race gear that would be around 1925. Hmmmm! NASA ST3 would be 192 Hp.

AZPete, thanks, I'll start on my parts weight list.

We could shave 40lbs in wheels IF we wanted to spend 2k in Kodiak's, another 15lbs in air jacks, another 25lbs in fuel cell and associated dry brake plumbing. Add in the weight of our intercooler and turbo (I estimate 40lbs...,it's not a light thing) and you are there easily.

All aluminum N/A peripheral port 13b is over 300hp at 100lbs! No torque, but sounds great at 9000rpm! Keeping it cool, that's another thing entirely!

OK, I have ALMOST finished my alignment, so I still have to adjust corner weight distribution but with side and floor anti intrusion, fire system, full aero (wing, diffuser, splitter, etc), single seat and 7 gals of fuel, I weigh in at UNDER 1800 lbs, so with me @170 I will be under 2000lbs with fuel and driver and gear

I happy given all the gives and takes I made in the build process, so I can say that I'm under 1800, so maybe I'm a 817 ?

    VERY COOL!!!!
With the addition of the wrap, extended splitter and such, we are starting to get concerned with our final weight. Mounting final stuff today, should have a revised weight this weekend.

That's pretty amazing. You are 300 less than a couple of other Rs. Great work!

Nice work Tony, it is so great to see you getting so close to burning some laps.
Now I have a new goal to be at least 25lb lighter than you.

Not running an A2W intercooler is saving a fair amount of weight. I bet it added 40lbs to my build, if you include all components + water.

True no AWIC or Dry Sump here but I do have a about 120lbs of added anti-intrusion protection on each side and beneath the seat, I had the FFR build manual and supplement in the car when being weighed so that must have added 10-15 lbs ! I think there are some areas that I can reduce the weight, once I corner balance the car I will look at things to change/remove. Would be nice to be under 1900 with driver and gear.

So Mitch you need to break the 1900lbs with driver and gear !

I'm struggling with the math on how this is possible (no offence meant I just want to know how to do the same!). I guess no windshield = -50lbs, no awic = - 50lbs, but then you're saying +120lbs of anti intrusion panels. Your Kirkey's are slightly lighter than our Sparco seats, maybe 20lbs would be optimistic, so that puts us at a wash for weight.

We were at 2058lbs completed, no driver. We did have a relatively full tank of fuel, you're saying 7 gallons, so that's approx 8 gallons of fuel or 65lbs lighter. I'm having a hard time seeing where the rest of the 200lbs comes from. Maybe FFR put some lead in our chassis ;p

    Were the scales recently calibrated?

That or our estimate of the AWIC additional weight is way off.

Scales are calibrated as we live real real close to Longacre and they do that for free. , I don't know the S frame weight vs the R frame weight so would need to find that out, I don't have the door hardware the S has, I don't have passenger seat and belts, I have a aluminum fuel cell and not the steel FFR one, I have an EJ207v7 and 5sp transmission, all the extra brackets and crap removed from engine, no fans, Wing mount and trans protection was about 25lbs, not sure what GT250 wing weighs. I'm using a Ultrasheild rally sport seat that weighs in @ 14.5 lbs, using the FFR rims and Hoosier tires, willwood 4 piston brakes, iWire harmess (which was like 20 lbs), aluminum radiator.

Okay, I can see how that would add up more. Our seats are 20lbs each and we have two, so that's ~25lbs savings there. Your engine and turbo probably weighs a bit less than our 2.5 with Borg Warner turbo (it weighs 25lbs alone). I bet your Wilwood brakes saved quite a bit of weight, but I'm not sure how to quantify it. We actually got our own harness down to within a pound or so of the IWire. Must just be a variety of things that all add up I guess.

We will be weighing ours again soon now that we've done a bit more lightening over the winter.

I bet our engine weights are 50-70lbs different and add in the turbo, that may be close to 75-100lbs difference right there. I will also get more weights as I play around and adjust/replace things, hopefully my weight will not increase
