    Exhaust Headers for 818R

What exhaust headers have 818 builders used?

The engine in my 818R is from an '06 WRX and has been built to produce more power (Darton sleeves, forged pistons, 1000cc injectors, Blouch Dominator 1.5 turbo).

The engine came with a 4-into-1 after market headers (looks like a Thomei Expreme), but they extend 1-3/4" below the bottom of the chassis (8-5/8" from the cylinder head exhaust port to the bottom-most part of the header).

One of the 818R builders said he used the stock Subaru exhaust manifold, because the after-market headers extended down too far and were not worth the price.

    Any suggestions?

What about raising the engine? In the 818R set-up, the suspension is raised an inch or so, so why not? (Because it would raise the center of gravity?)

    Thanks.

I've built six 818's and another 4 in here for tuning. I've had the Tomei, Killer B and Perrin headers on the cars and the Perrin's are the only ones that do not hang low. Luckily they are on sale for July and big tube equal length headers (2" primaries) are $982 and the regular equal length headers are $900. The 2" up pipe is $237. They are works of art in stainless steel and in stock.

Perrin equal length, excellent quality, best clearance. Match the tube size to your turbo, bigger is not always better.

They sit 1" below the bottom of the car and even with the Killer B pan.
