Bolts not sitting properly

I installed the shock mounts on the aluminium lower control arms and one of the bolts sits on top of the weld beads. I'm thinking of changing the bolt to a socket head cap-screw to clear the welds. I'm sure almost everyone has run into this.

Just go with a bolt that fits.

My welds were pretty messy on those brackets as well. I did a combination of grinding off some f the flat part on the head of the bolt and grinding down the welds with a dremel. Before I did this, I actually ripped a bolt trying to tighten it down flush, so much better when it actually sits flat.

I used a wheel grinder to take away enough of the weld bead to make the bolt sit flat. I wouldn't go with a smaller bolt head.

I took a dremmel to them for the same reason. A little annoying that they didn't sit flat from the factory but an easy fix

Mine sit flat. I don't remember dremeling them, but I might have. If I did, it was before I got them powdercoated. The cap screw is probably a better solution if yours are already coated.

Another thing to watch for is how the nut sits on the underside of the aluminum A-arm. Mine did not sit flush, so I counterbored the holes to give the nut a good seat. Probably not necessary, but wouldn't want the bolts to shear from having all the clamping force on one side of the threads.
