I came up with a new way to adjust the Mark4 trunk hinges. I have found these to be one of the most frustrating parts of the build.
Here is a list of the tools you will need.
3/4 diameter step drill
1/4 drive ratchet, swivel, 12-14 inch extension and a 1/2 inch socket.
2 I-phones capable of face time or some other sort of live camera that you can put in the trunk.
Wrap electrical tape around the swivel to stiffen it up a bit.
Start by drilling a 3/4 diameter hole in the left and right side trunk walls. The location in the picture worked well for me as long as you use a swivel.
Next. Install the trunk lid on the car with the hinges attached loosely. Place the camera inside the trunk area looking up at the hinge area. Make sure you can see both bolts on one hinge. Center the trunk lid and make sure the gaps and height is where you want it. If not, shim and shift it around till its right.
No with your long extension and socket, stick it through the hole using the camera to guide you. This takes a bit of practice but once you figure it out you will get right on the bolt. Tighten up the 2 bolts. Now open the trunk carefully and move the camera to the other side and repeat. That's it. Check the gaps and your done. the side to side adjustment can be made easily with out losing the other adjustments.
