    Jay's 818S ... I must be crazy.... Build

At this point it's more of a deconstruction thread than a build thread, but the new baby should be ready for pickup this weekend.

I'm sure I'll be here quite a bit looking for some advise as doing this is so far outside of what I have ever tried before. I am mechanically inclined, I've just never done much of it. The tear down went fine, so I'm optimistic. Just the last of the wiring harness to remove.

My previous vehicle hobby has been off-roading jeeps for the past decade. Always had someone else do the work on upgrades and breakage.

Making a 35" tire look like a donut. Waiting to head out on to Rock Creek at Rausch Creek in PA.

Cool. Good luck on the build, and I'm sure plenty here will offer help. I know I've taken my share already. Like you (and most of us, I'm sure) building a FFR kit is pretty far outside what we have tried. That's part of the allure, for me any way. I keep learning stuff that I already think I know...

Jay - where are you located? Rausch Creek is near my old stomping grounds up in the Commonwealth.

I'm up in Mass, but drive down once or twice a year with the Jeep club i'm part of. It's like Nirvana.

It's not much, but it's good to be on the build side of this endeavor.

Jay, welcome! I'm in MA with an 818. A just restored '83 CJ-7 is on of my 818's stable mates...
