    Intermediate "D" Shaft

Over time mine has become covered in surface rust. I cleaned it up today but am now considering painting it black or at least with clear. Has anyone else done this? Good or bad idea?

No reason not to. I painted mine before the initial installation. I don't like installing uncoated steel anywhere.
