Just had my virtual BAR appointment. Took 10 mins and most of that was the agent typing. The agent said they’ll to a quick review in a few days and a final review with BAR will take 3-4 weeks followed by the in-person.

Walked into DMV on April 20 to start the process. Just walked out with license plates. A bit over 6 months!
The length of time did not concern me. I had a temporary operating permit and put 2,800 miles on the car over that time.
DMV website quoting 6 to 9 months to get a personalized plate.

They got back to me that same afternoon, approved everything and gave me the secret BAR number to make appointment which was another 5 weeks out. In person BAR took 45 mins, headed to DMV and got my plates same day. I have a friend who is now 4 months past his virtual appt and just got approved for his final BAR appt. This process never seems to be the same, depends on what county you live in. In the end who really cares as long as you get your reg done and your smog exempt
