Interesting to see they're doing a package now with the Gen 3 Coyote. For our purposes would have to add a low profile pan and hopefully a pickup is now available. Wasn't when I did mine as I described in my Coupe build thread. Then the only thing missing is that awesome Gen 3 Coyote engine cover.

Note the price listed is the retail price from Ford Performance. Looks like street price is around $3K less.

    2. Is quieter at partial throttle. They get just as loud when they rev up.
    3. Does not need to warm up before you take off or give it some serious gas.
    4. Doesn't smell like gas. (plus or minus depending on just how much of a gear head you are)
    5. Revs higher.
    6. I would also bet that they would generally last longer for a given HP level. But that could be offset by higher rebuild costs. Opinions on this one?

"It starts every time", "has lots of power", "power down low", "power up high", "dependable", aren't Coyote specific. My SBF fits all of those. If we are doing a why it's better list, let's keep it real.

Idles when cold is directly related to how nasty your cam is and if you have a choke that is set correctly. A mild 347 with a choke will start right up and idle. I have 500hp, a nasty cam and no choke. I do usually have to start mine a couple times and work the throttle for several minutes when it is cold. That is actually part of what I wanted in a Cobra. It is louder than I would like, even with Flowmasters. But that idle sound will give you goosebumps.

Coyotes are great engines. My only complaint is that they are physically huge making them harder to work on in a Cobra.
I concur with all this. The coyote is a good engine choice, bottom line to me is do you want a modern look or old school look? Both will work well in these cars.
