I got the surprise of my life ... or at least the best one for a very long time. I had my coupe entered in HPDE-1 (my very first track time) at the NASA June Jam at Road Atlanta this weekend. After my first track session, I pulled up to my trailer, got out of the car and who should be standing there but my good friend, John Tongish! John, with the help of some of our local C#br@ group and my lovely wife, Dona, arranged to be there for my first track session in the coupe. John was a terrific support person for me and I really appreciated him flying out to the Atlanta area to be here for this event. We managed to subject John to temp's in the mid 90's, some pretty good racing, a wild thunderstorm with winds 60 gusting to 75 mph! Yes, there were "easy-ups" mangled and flying all over the place. We sat out the weather with 13 people in our medium sized motorhome which was "rocking & rolling" in the wind. We also kept him hydrated with all manner of liquids! We had a Saturday night cookout AFTER the monster storm had passed. Bob Stuke provided his famous "Smoked Boston Butt"... oh, yeah, there were lots of jokes about Bob's Butt! We planned for 20-25 and ended up with a little over 40 starving racers/fans ... great fun!
BTW, got signed off for solo!
John, many thanks for doing this for me! You SoCal guys are pretty special!
