Looks like I can expect to have the car back in my garage the third week in October if all goes to plan. I have a shipper lined up for the week of October 20th. One of my neighbors just bought a Back Draft Racing Cobra. Watching and hearing him disturbing the peace in the neighborhood has me getting anxious to get mine back.

Talked to Jeff today and locked in on my color selections so he can pick up the paint. No hesitation or doubt...going Spectra blue with pearl white stripes. Stripes will be two wide with pin stripes and done top & bottom on the hood & trunk.

    Dave-

Great color choice! I am sure it will look awesome! You must be really excited about getting her back all dressed up for the ball.

Will you have any driving left when she gets home? Or, are you planning on just slowly putting everything back together for a spring launch?

Either way, very exciting, and I look forward to seeing more in progress pics from Jeff.

    Regards,

    Steve

Colorado weather provides quite a few opportunities for driving throughout the winter. I'll need to go through the VIN and registration process and then I can start to enjoy it. About the only thing I'll need to do with the car after Jeff is done is install the Simpson belts and set the ride height and alignment. I'll also be looking for a tuner to dial in the Sniper, as the car is still running rich.

That was 2 days and 10 pounds of dust ago! As of 1:00 this afternoon it's all gray again...a different gray...this time 2K primer surfacer. That'll get sanded both dry and wet then be ready for a shot of sealer before colors.

Jeff sent me a note today that he's about half way through wet sanding the 2K primer. He's got my sealer and paint and we should start seeing color go on in the next couple of days!

Here's what $1,300 in paint looks like:

Jeff is on a roll now! Sanding on the primer is complete and sealer should be going on in the next couple of days followed by the white for the stripes.

Did you decide on a TPMS before mounting the tires?

Ok. I was looking for a setup for my Jeep about a year ago. I wanted an internal sensor. Everything that I saw seemed pretty cheap and seemed to need a lot of maintenance (frequent battery changes, which means tire removal). My OEM setup in my Maxima is going on 10 years old with no maintenance at all. I wish the aftermarket would put out a quality system.

Your tires and 18" wheels look great. Some serious meat! I have the "Arby's" commercial going through my head right now.

Exactly why I chose to skip it. Everything I saw just looked like cheap parts that I'd regret sooner rather than later. It would be nice to be able to find an OE quality setup with a decent looking receiver.

Thanks everyone for the votes of approval. I really struggled with color selection throughout most of the build. I started out with the traditional looking blue and white, but then started thinking about doing something unique and different. I went through several different ideas and Jeff sent me some sample sprayouts to look at. In the end, I went with the colors that I had in mind from the start. I did go with a tweak that Jeff recommended on the stripes and did a pearl white instead of a stark white. I know it isn't unique, but how many of these do you see at once outside of a club or show setting? Once I listened to my heart, my decision was easy and I'm absolutely thrilled with the result.

Here are a few outdoor shots Dave.

I have done this same combination of Lexus Spectra Blue (8M6) and Nissan Pearl White (QAC) a couple of times and have combined the pearl with other colors but even using 3 different cameras have not been able to get a good photo that really shows off the pearl. I guess the camera doesn't see it the same way our eye does. This one catches a little bit of it.

So now it'll get a couple of days to set before cut & buff then reassembly will commence.

By the way, I think your new 18s will fill up those rear wheelwells much better than what I have it rolling on

    Cheers,
    Jeff

I'm blue with envy as well...

The pearl in the white is perfect, much nicer than just a plain white.
