Impressive!! Congratulations to all the graduates. Now as for baby Go-Dad's hood: you know the rules around here! If there aren't pictures, it didn't happen! Come on, Dad, lets see some photos of baby's ride!!

We're still in a hold mode since things aren't going so well at Camp Granny.
While there is still hope, we all know that nobody survives life, except for one fellow.
Though I don't know when I will be working on my car again, I feel like it will be sooner than I think.

    Steve-

Still keeping your family i my thoughts, and hope things work out for the best. I don't pretend to know what "best" is, but I know He does, even if it isn't clear to us.

I am happy you had some reason to celebrate recently; that can often help with the pain with which you are dealing. I hope the pain passes, and nothing but the good is left to enjoy! Hang tough Steve-- you and the entire family! Until then, I will be thinking of you!

    Regards,

    Steve

    1. Tuesday we were told that Camp Granny was going home to hang with the Lord within 3-5 days because her kidneys and G.I. systems had shut down.

    2. We pulled her off all of her medications for 24 hours and gave her a piece of a "Magic Pill" that my brother takes to get his kidneys kicking.

    3. The kidney's came back on line on Thursday, the G.I. system did the following day so Camp Granny is looking and feeling pretty good.

    4. We were expecting to plant her next to Pop this week and instead I broiled for Lobster last night and Short Ribs today.

    5. Her vitals are better, her attitude is too and though she's got a lot of issue, she's alive and kicking.

    6. Right now she's only taking vitamins so is this a miracle or simply an issue of over medication?

    7. Hummmmmm?

That’s great news I sometimes think that the best medicine is to take as little medicine as possible

I hope that her health continues to improve and I know that you will never regret the time you get to spend with her it’s the little things that matter the most

If the light is burning brightest before it burns out at least she will have had fun while it lasted.
She even told me to go home tomorrow and go work on my car.
I might just do that, but we'll see how things go.

    Thanks-O-Million!

We tried to make the original test fit header work (IMSA Shorties) but I'm not happy with them so:

I contacted the folks at Schoenfeld today and ordered a new set of Adjustable IMCA Headers.
It looks like the 30 degree collectors will do the trick, but if they don't the gang said they'd make me a custom angled set if necessary.
Part number 161-33 are expected to be shipped on Friday.

NOTE: I'm Still Hanging At Camp Granny & She's Doing Pretty Good, Which Is Way Better Than Before!

Came home yesterday from "Camp Granny" and my new headers were on my front doorstep.
They will work fine; however, I'll need to get a set of 45-degree collectors made so I'll be calling Doug at Schoenfeld on Monday morning.
Will keep you all posted as to when we will do the 2nd 1st start.

Some friends of the family are now pinch-hitting for us on Sundays, so we are now getting a little break.
We've known this couple for over 40 years and they both recently retired.
I'm so glad to have these people in my life.

Ordered a pair of 50 degree slip on custom collectors over the planned 45 degree pieces after measuring things a few times.
We'll be adding a couple muffler inserts to knock the sound down before the lovely notes enter the side pipes.
Wish me luck because all of these delays have been less than fun, but we are pushing forward.
Also, The Folks At Schoenfeld Have Been Great!

The 50 degree slip on collectors should be shipped next week so we wait a little longer.
Once we get them on the car, we will be doing our 2nd 1st start with the new Dart Block.
Also, I did take a little cam out of the car and switched to a roller cam set up.

    COMP Cams Xtreme Energy Cam
    Basic Operating RPM Range: 2,000-6,000
    Grind Number: XR288HR
    Cam Style: Hydraulic roller tappet
    Advertised Duration: 288 int./294 exh.
Intake Duration at 050 inch Lift: 236
Exhaust Duration at 050 inch Lift: 242
Intake Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.521 in.
Exhaust Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.540 in.
    Lobe Separation (degrees): 110

With the ZF 6-Speed, I needed a lower operation range because 1,700 RPM's equates to 70 MPH. The engine ran okay at that RPM with the hotter cam, but was really wasn't as happy as it could have been.

I've also added an adjustable rev limiter since we've recently seen two speed related Cobra accidents so initially the revs will be set at 3,500 until I learn how to drive the Dart Cobra.

Sunday Is Fun Day, Thanks To My Good Friends Who Are Holding Down The Fort At Camp Granny!

    > I installed the new Schoenfield IMCA headers today along with their custom slip-on 50-degree collectors and they fit very well.
    > Now we just need to fab up Short 3" J-Pipes to the side pipe flanges and we'll have the exhaust pretty much done.
    > A big thanks to the folks at Schoenfeld Headers for giving me a somewhat off the shelf solution.
    > I'll post a video once we get the 2nd / 1st start done which will hopefully be soon.
    > Heading back to Camp Granny's around 5:00 PM.

Even took her out for a ride yesterday!

    Steve,

I've gone through a set of the original FFR mild-steel pipes already... I think I did too many starts without letting it get hot enough to burn off the moisture when I was doing my build, so they rusted out after three summers on the road (from the inside-out where the baffles are welded into the pipes.

I replaced those with a set of Gas-N pipes, but the shiny, polished stainless didn't look right with my build, so I had them blasted (aluminum oxide was the media) and then ceramic coated matte black like the first set.

    Here are the Gas-N pipes....

And here are the original FFR pipes - they're a couple inches shorter than the Gas-N ones and the turn-outs are more straight-out from the car instead of downward a bit, like those on the Gas-N pipes.....

    Later,
    Chris

    Cool

    Gas-N Pipes

They still look perfect after 4000 miles. All I do is buff them up with a little Blue Magic every 4 months or so.

Looks like the 4th of July is shaping up for a pretty good day over here at Camp Granny!
I'll be going home later today to swing some wrenches, maybe even with Baby-Go-Dad.

I swung wrenches with my son on the 4th so his car is going off to be painted on Monday.
We've replaced the hood with a Sunoco Glass piece, right front fender and his clouded head lights with new GM pieces.
Shown below is what the car looked like after a fellow backed into it:

    https://youtu.be/q7sEYGTyEn0

Thank you all for posting pics because we all know that getting the placement right can make or break the look of the car.
I'll be getting back to my Dark Side Dart MK-4 tomorrow since my friends will be taking care of my Mom on Sunday.
Since Sunday is Funday, I'm expecting to depart from Camp Granny so that I can finish up hanging the pipes.

Baby Go-Dad's car is getting painted so he will have it back a few weeks before he goes back to college.

Hope to make it over to the Summer Swim League Championship to see him coach the kids one last time.

After that I might even get a chance to work on my final check/punch list before we do our 2nd / 1st Start!

Wish Me Luck Gang Because This Schedule We've Been On Caring For My Mom Has Been Bit Rough!

    Have A Great Evening All!

I made it home for a few hours today and was able to shorten my header primary tubes (IMCA Adjustable) to better fit them within the body openings.
The game plan is to weld the J-Pipe Plates some time next week; however, I need to make it home to do a little more fitting before that can occur.
Hopefully I'll make it to Camp Go-Dad-Go tomorrow so Say A Prayer That Granny Has A Good Night so that I can make the trek.

We're still doing the 24 X 7 care and she will not be getting better.
At nearly 86 years of age, smoking for 65-70 of those years, paints an ugly picture.
The good news is that Granny is not getting much worse plus our pals still come in and pinch-hit on Sundays.
We'll be getting them to "Granny Sit" a few more days when our oldest delivers their firstborn, which will be in a few weeks.
One Day At A Time Is The Order Of Each Day!

Suggestion To All Of Our Forum Members:

If you smoke, please consider quitting.

    Granny's Doing Okay! Yea!

Last Sunday wasn't the best, but the Dark Side Dart MK-4 is going to my friends house this Sunday so that we can fab up the header flanges plates to the side pipes.

The 2nd, 1st Start Will Hopefully Be Soon!

    I Said Hopefully Darn It!
