Meet the new Factory Five '35 Hot Rod Pick-Up Truck!

Ask anyone who knows me and they'll admit that I can't keep a secret very well. Which makes this introduction of our latest Factory Five more surprising that ever. Last year, we introduced our all-new Gen 3 Coupe at SEMA. What I didn't tell anyone back then was that we had already begun work on this new, and very different, Factory Five Truck.

A year later, we are done with most of the tooling and getting ready to go to production at the beginning of 2018!

This truck is a new direction for us in a few ways. First of all, it has a bench seat so now you can take your girl along with the dog (joke there). This truck has street-rod cruiser style, but, like all Factory Fives, it has performance in it's DNA and will outrun just about anything on four wheels. The chassis is derived from our proven award-winning '33 Hot Rod.

I hope you like what we've designed. The truck is debuting at SEMA, and pre-orders can be placed on our website now! Click here for more.

I'll bet a black n tan hound would look good hanging out the passenger side!! And I could put another Hemi in the back for traction! Shotgun stock shifter on an old T-90 would fit the theme...

Seems like it has many of the problems with the '33. The running boards will be so low that driving real roads will be difficult. The bed is too shallow to be of much value. With no room behind the seats, where's the storage?

For those who live in states where windshield damage is likely, the curved windshield will be pricey to replace - I know from experience with my car. I also prefer a gasket around a windshield - it's easier to install. A flat windshield would look fine and be far cheaper to replace.

At least it appears to have a removable dash.

While fenderless looks cool, builders should realize that it makes for a trailer queen or a car missing a lot of paint, quickly.

I'm sure the front suspension works well, but it sure isn't pretty compared to a Kugel.

From the look of the 2 rectangular side parts on the side of the bed, it may be easy to add a wood extension to the sides. Does anyone know if it comes with roll up or power door windows?

Good question. FFR has sold over 1000 '33 kits and the power window kit still sucks. My '37 has framed windows and came with nothing but a Dolphin brand power window motor. The entire frame area must have a 5/8" wide by 9/16" deep channel for a flexible run channel and properly aligned metal channels with the same dimensions inside the door. I spent as much as 80 hours per door to get that done.

I do have to agree with DaveS53 concerns. I will be waiting for the first 20-30 trucks to be completely built before ordering mine. This will allow for some guidance as to issues that will arise, and what the improvements will be. It will give those who wish to built one a chance to plan for this upgrades. I do find, that once you add on all the "extras", the kit starts to become pricy. I currently built and own my GTM. Love the car, but I had to change and or improve a lot of items. Those who built a GTM know exactly what I am talking about. But having said that, I believe this is to be treated as a new toy, a fun truck to drive. Still looking forward to seeing this truck with full hood and fenders. Can't wait to see what builders put in for a power plant.

Cool idea to make a truck. I am more of a fat tires and fenders guy so I will be anxious to see something along those lines.

They are correct, same handles as 33 but doors are not suicide. So they have to be opposite.

Trust me, they are backwards. FFR has them going the same way as on the 33, they didn't flip them from driver side to passenger side and vise versa, and they should have.

Let me elaborate a little on this. All swing type door handles always swing away from the latch side. Driver side for example. The door handle should be swinging down on the left not the right.

    A very sexy pick-up kit.

I emailed FFR yesterday and confirmed that the pick-up bed in 9" deep....Not nearly deep enough for a bag of groceries.

So I was thinking of some sort of "woody- like" raised bed sides or chop up an old steel pick up bed and attach it to the frame.
It looks like there is plenty of usable height wihtout interfering with the rear window.

I like the truck idea. It looks great from the photos and like others, I can't wait to see it with fenders and hood. I wonder if it will be able to tow? If the bed ends up being a bit deeper to actually throw stuff in back and it can tow at least 2,000lbs or so, then I'll be looking into this one for sure.

The truck looks great! The guys at FF did a great job on the design and execution.

I'm looking forward to seeing a version with full fenders and running boards, and getting some info on the ground clearance.

I'm seriously considering this truck as my next project. Full fenders/running boards and good ground clearance ("good" = not scraping on speed bumps) will be "must haves" for me.

I filled out the preorder, but would like to see the improvements to the '33 that have been previously discussed; roll up windows, ground clearance with running board/fenders, weather sealing.

I would like to order one too but need a method to raise the ground clearance about 4" higher and make the bed deeper for real use.
(modified front spindles to raise front end 3" without messing with the suspension might work, lower the mounting position for the rear axle ? then lower truck bed)

A bumper and the ability to add your own hitch, even if it's for low capacity like a small trailer would be nice.

Just my 2 cents........I really want to order this kit .
