AN Compression fitting for fuel line

Hey guys, I had an AN compression fitting come loose because I accidentally put the wrench on the wrong AN fitting. I simply retightened the fitting but it got me thinking...can those brass ferrules be retightened and still be leak-proof or do I need to replace the fitting? BTW, this fitting is on the suction side of a mechanical fuel pump line.

Compression fittings can be taken apart and retightened, so long as the ferrule is not disturbed. FYI: Compression fittings are not AN.
