    Dash Brackets

    See the picture below. I know these are the dash brackets, but what is the purpose of the square holes? On mine, the square cutouts are different sizes.

    They're not actually intended as dash brackets although some repurpose them for that function. They are vestiges of the old donor concept that still get packed with the kits (like some of the other parts that no one ever seems to use anymore such as the fan shroud straps, hood pin brackets, gauge trims, headlight relay, etc.). The reality is that their original and true purpose is for mounting the Fox body Mustang headlight and 4 way flasher switches below the dash, hence the square holes.

    yeah .. here is a pic from the old manual when we had to walk in the snow up hill ..both ways to the garage....lol... you can see the OEM head light and hazard switches in the square hole (facing down).... things have come a LONG way!
