    Front Koni Shock mounts changed?

Just starting my second MK4 build and have a question about the upper shock mount. There are two positions to bolt them in that was not on my last build. Anyone know why and which I should use?

I used the lower holes. There's a note in the manual if I recall that recommends using the lower.

Interesting. The new Coupe has two positions for all the suspension components front and back. Instructions say lower holes for street use, upper holes for race use. I'm building my Coupe as a street machine, so using the lower holes. But the manual says if using the optional double action Koni shocks, they go in the upper holes even when using the lower holes for everything else. Just a flyer here -- but maybe the same thing with the Roadster. Use the lower holes for the standard Koni shocks, upper holes for the optional double action Koni shocks?

I believe you are right on the money. I’m using the lower holes. BTW I am really enjoying your new build thread. I learned so much from your MK4 threads. You have saved me from numerous headaches and pitfall, and I’m sure it will be the same with the 65 coupe I plan for my next build.

I did the same for the front (standard Koni's).

I assume this is the same for the rears (new MK4 frames have two sets of holes) ?

Also - it looks like your ball joints are pointing the wrong direction in your picture, the threaded part should point outward. Edwardb pointed out on my build that the UCA's need to be disassembled and have the mount they screw into flipped.

Yeah, I caught that yesterday when the spindle just would not line up. I can honestly say now that Loctite works very well. Nothing a small torch heating everything up couldn’t fix.

    Gentlemen,
Reading this sparked my interest, my front and rear red Koni's are installed in the upper mount holes. Did I miss something in the manual? FFR told me they won't fit there but they do! Is it detrimental to the car's handling performance? I plan on changing to the correct location but I'm curious of the impact!
