    Steering Wheel Center 289 FIA

Does anyone know the origin of the center piece on the steering wheel in the picture below? This appears to be an original 289 car and I am wondering if this piece is reproduced by anyone or maybe available as a part of another steering wheel package. More than likely I am paddling upstream on this one!

    Hi Joel
That is an early model cobra which had the worm and sector gear steering which was inherited with the chassis from AC Cars. Shelby later changed the steering to rack and pinion which most of the newer cars replicate. Ive never seen a replica with that style wheel...but then again, im not near an expert on these things.

Thanks so much! You know way more about it than I do. I just liked the period correct look. I'm sure it's no longer available.

    Hi Joel,
Try Nick Acton at Acton Custom Enterprises. He may make something or know of a source.
