Does the body get riveted to the frame rails along the engine compartment?

Not riveted. But I believe there were instructions in the past to use self-tapping screws there. Through rubber bumpers as I recall. This used to be discussed a lot. Haven't seen it for a long time. Most of us don't use anything there. The body floats above the 3/4-inch tubes around the hood opening. You should have some foam cushion in there to seal it up and improve the appearance.

I have never riveted the body
I have the thin foam cushion provided by FFR on the rails, is that adequate or is there something better? Another question, the brackets that hold the body at the front turn signal don't seem very strong, 2 small screws hold the body in position? Are there other options/suggestions to beef up the front mounting?

From manual, page 312:
"Move the front of the body as necessary. If the body will not stay where you put it, put a screw through the
hood lip of the body into the ¾” tube.
The hood opening is attached to the ¾” frame rails using countersunk sheet metal screws or the small bumpers
during the hood fitment next."
Does the body float or is it secured to the 3/4" rails?

These are the instructions I was referring to in my first response. Your choice, but most builds don't. I haven't found any reason to and there's no movement or downside in my experience.
Regarding the quick jacks, brackets, grommets, etc. there's an active thread on the other forum talking about this as well. Includes some links to some previous threads that discussed in detail. http://www.ffcars.com/forums/17-fact...ml#post5923745
