VIDEO - Car-themed kid's birthday party starring my Roadster!

    https://vimeo.com/254798595

My friend had his son’s 11h birthday party at The Automotive Driving Museum in Los Angeles. It has a soda shop for parties and also scavenger hunts for kids where they learn a little bit about car history. At the end, as a surprise, I took each kid out for a ride around the block.

Safety: The shoulder harnesses didn’t help the wee ones so it was lap-belt only. I didn't break any speed limits, I just shifted high & hard. It was a Sunday an in an industrial area near LAX airport, and it was deserted.

    The kids had interesting comments:

    • Can you change the engine to a hybrid?
    • WOW this goes 160, can we go that fast today?
    • This is an AC Cobra. I did a report on them.
    • You built this? Do you work in a factory?
    • My dad wants one of these.
    • I’m shaking!

The footage is all mine, the editing is by a friend of mine. He’s a professional, but this was just a quick edit for him.

    Fast-forward to the year 2068:

“I just pulled the trigger on a Mk27 Roadster Kit! The first time I saw one was 50 years ago back in 2018, I was 10 years old and at a birthday party. This guy was there in a vintage MK3 roadster and he gave me a ride. Ever since then I wanted to build a Factory Five. I am so happy they sell electric engines with speakers in the exhaust pipes to simulate that vintage sound!”

    That is Great!

As the husband of a grade school teacher, I can only imagine the stories that were told the next week at school!

For those fortunate enough to not be old enough to have heard the song before, it's a cover. Original above.

I am very happy all the mom's let their kids in the car. I didn't really break any speed limits, I just shifted high & hard.

I would say that most, if not all these kids have never been in a car with a manual transmission.
