    efi

i am trying to connect my holly sniper efi from blue print to my rf wire harness. read a lot about similar units but not this particular one. it seems the rf orange (efi/coil) goes to pink (sw ignition) on efi harness. what i havent heard mentioned is the yellow wire on my efi harness that must be connected to the coil. is this what powers the unit up? like everyone my distributor does have a loose wire attached which will probably go to my rf purple (coil/tach) wire. there is no wire for fan on this 7 pin connector but i do have a wire labeled crank signal positive(engine speed signal input) and another wire labeled crank signal negative(engine speed ground). not sure where these two go. any help would be appreciated. this is on the blueprint306. this efi did come with 3.5 inch display for programming. its either the 550-510 or 550-516 holley sniper

    Hi Padre,

This sounds like the same issue Papa ran into a month or so ago. I don't have the details of what was done to get it working handy, but if you call Johnny at BluePrint, he should have it.

    here's a link to Papa's thread...

It doesn't look the solution was posted in it.

Hey Guys, Here is a link to holleys website with complete instructions on the sniper wiring.
If i recall the previous wiring thread was about which fuel pump wiring leads to use (chassis, or from efi) and the answer was the chassis RF wires are fine for powering up the efi fuel pump.

    http://documents.holley.com/199r11031r.pdf
The sniper should have came installed and wired up on the engine, with the exception of the battery leads.
we pull the tach signal from the gray lead on the distributor. So a mere 12V for power, and you should be in business.
see page 23 of the instructions. only difference you may see is the tach pickup wire is running to the distributor instead of the coil.
The sniper is not controlling timing, so you're not using the coil drive function. You should have distributor leads running to the coil, and a keyed 12V to send power.

Let me know if you have more questions! hopefully that helps clear it up!

Not to steer this thread away from Johnny's response for the Holley Sniper system, but the solution for the FAST EFI is in this thread for those that may need it:

thats a good contribution. and correct. basically the efi unit needs a 12V on lead, and you also need a DIFFERENT 12v keyed source wire to the coil positive side.

remember if this was a carbed engine...you'd have to get 12V to the ignition system and distributor....those are usually a piggy backed 12v keyed switch.

just b/c we add an efi system doens't negate this, you still need power to the coil, and you'll ALSO need one for the EFI unit.

    hope this helps!!!!

    Ron,

I responded to your email this morning. Again, 12v switched to the coil. You can piggy back that same 12V for the distributor power source, this is common.

Then the sniper itself uses both a switched 12v, and a thicker constant 12v going to the battery.

I thought this was all resolved as i hadn't heard anything since march. sorry if i missed something in the meantime, let me know

    Johnny
