Where to find backing plate bolts for 8.8 straight axle

    Hey guys,

I'm in the process of putting my 8.8 straight axle back together. I need some new brake backing plate bolts for it, as the other bolts were just about destroyed getting them off. Where can I get these bolts? Does anyone have a part number? I've been searching for them, but haven't found anything besides a few used sets on eBay. Maybe I am looking for the wrong description? Is there any reason some regular metric grade 8.8 bolts and nuts from the hardware store wouldn't do the trick?

    Thanks!

Call Moser, you want the “T” bolts for the 8.8. I believe the full set is like $25. I believe that Speedway also carries them.
Mk4, Moser M88 rear end, Eaton truetrak, Craft Racing 461 Windsor, MMR pro trans, Glenn’s 1,000 hp cobra fuel system and lots of other parts.

Thanks. Having the correct terminology makes a difference.

You are probably right in that they are 3/8". I may just pick some up some grade 8 bolts and locking nuts at the hardware store, since that's basically what it came with from the factory.

We have one. It's really small one though. More like an office and parts receiving headquarters. I keep thinking how awesome it would be if McMaster Carr had brick and mortar stores in every town.

The Fastenal here by me in Ontario, you cant go in and buy 8 3/8" bolts and washers. You have to buy a bag of 25! That's ok sometimes but when you know your only gonna need a couple items to finish a project up, not so much!

Yep. Agree. We have an ACE hardware that has a good selection that you can buy one at a time.

that sucks our fastenal will let you buy individual number of bolts. Completed my engine accessory and water pump hex head bolts for a complete install for 5 dollars. In other cases I have bought entire bolt sets for a project and they had everything I needed for under 30 dollars

There are major differences between the good ol' U.S. of A. and Canada. You have to look no further than your available selection of Pop Tarts to see this. You guys have like 20 different flavors, we have about 6!!!!! Glad I live in a border city!!
