    MK4 Ebrake Handle

I'm trying to assemble the ebrake handle and I can't get the chrome handle to screw onto the black ebrake shaft. Almost feels like the threads are wrong. I'm going to put the shaft in the freezer overnight but was wondering if there's any other tricks to get this assembled?

    Thanks!

I haven't had any trouble with that for the several I've assembled. At first maybe a little tight but then OK. The shaft assembly is plain steel and mine were a little rusty. Maybe take a wire brush to them and make sure the threads are clean and shiny. Adding some oil or even anti-seize might help too. The handle is polished aluminum (not chrome) and just check to make sure the threads are clean and undamaged, no burrs, etc. Obviously it's possible something could be defective with your parts. But they should go together.

x2 on Paul's response. Mine was difficult for the first few turns - I suspect the male threads weren't the highest quality. Definitely use oil/anti-seize.

This evening I have tried everything and my upper handle is not threading onto the lower handle. The threads appear wrong. I sent an email and pics to Dave at FFR. I can get one thread in then it will not budge. I’ll let you know what he says.

Dave replied to my email, no questions asked......... he is sending me out a new handle. I assume they might have had an issue with a run of handles? I’ll keep the thread posted once I get the new handle . All should be ok I assume. FFR is great when it comes to these things. Thanks again Dave!!!!

Hi Steve, I sent you a PM but for others too:

The first handle I had was incorrectly powder coated on the threads. FFR replaced the handle with a new one without powder coating on those threads. We rubbed it a little with steel wool, then a little WD-40 too. Handle screwed on without issue.
