About to remove body, cockpit brace question

I going to remove the body this evening and put it on the body buck. When making a brace for the cockpit opening, how much "give" does it need to easily remove the body without allowing it to overflex? The opening is about 35". Should I cut a notch that allows for 2" of flex or what is your experience?

The body hs a lot of flex to it. No need to do anything just watch the FFR video on you tube if you are hesitant. I have done it many times even after paint without any brace at all.

Yeah, I'm probably overthinking it as usual.

The body brace was more for earlier versions. The Mk4 added sections that roll under the side of the chassis down the side which significantly stiffened it up in the cockpit area. I took the body off with me at the front and one kid at each rear corner. The body is very durable.

Don't worry, that's one of my specialties as well. I took my body off without a brace in the cockpit. It flexed quite a bit. I did put a brace in the cockpit for storage. I've checked the brace a few times and it doesn't have much tension on it. I also supported the bottom of the sides with a couple pieces of crumpled up packing paper. So that could be helping.

Like Wallace said, if you are worried about the flex, watch the FFR body removal video.
