    Push pull shifter cable mod

Sorry if this was already mentioned but I searched and couldn't find anything. Wondering has anybody had thier supplied the factory five shifter cables modified to be shorter. I see Midwest controls.com has available the pieces need to make or could be used to modify the cables but they need to be crimped on.

FYI I flip the FFR billet (k tuned) shifter around in my center drive build used some universal bell cranks from Speedway Motors (Part # 5501523) to recorrect the throw along with some solid shifter rods and 1/4-28 rod ends to get the linkages into the engine bay. Now I just need the shifter cables to be shortened to around 36".

Might either just order a set of custom push pulls from Cablecrafts.com thier high performance Blue Max series, if I can find a distributor? Or use more soild rods and universals joints from McMaster Carr as shifter linkages and but the connections on the other side of the transmission hum......?

Decided to just make the shifter linkages solid instead have the slop of the cables to contended with via CF tubing with epoxied joints. :-) Moved my Mechie3's Bell crank assembly to the other side of the trans so the linkages align with my shifter.

All I have is Iphone and every time I try to upload pics to the forum it fails. But I always post pics to my Instagram @biknman69 profile and under the hash tags #818r and #factoryfive818. I have the CF tubes to finish fabricating the linkages coming hopefully tomorrow, so this weekend will be pics of it in final mock-up. My do a quick vid too.

Got the linkages done back past the firewall. I may just use cables (4ft estimate) from there to get the connects around the engine to simplify things. Here is a short vid of things so far: https://youtu.be/IwSf3ni8i-c

Thank you! BTW I have been wanting to ask you a question; so I’m to the point of starting fab work on my IC piping and I’m on the fence to do Vangen clamps (expensive difficult to fab prone to cracking) or silicone hose couplers with your clamps. Question or rather an inquiry other than putting a bead roll in the pipe for helping the clamp on the hose couplers have you ever seen or know where to source serrated aluminum tube/pipe ends in sizes that could be used for IC piping?
    Thanks Dave

We used Vibrant pipes. Josh has tried using the cheap ones at SiliconeIntakes but they don't TIG cleanly. The Vibrant weld much better. But if you aren't going to TIG them together the cheap SiliconeIntakes pipes will work fine. But you'll have a LOT of couplings to make all the bends.

I have purchased aluminum and 4130 tubes from Online Metals when I need material that is hard to come by locally. https://www.onlinemetals.com/merchan...=71&top_cat=60

Thanks guys these are what I'm looking at that would be welded to IC pipes so that I could use silicon hose couplers and Col. Red's Murray Clamps to join the IC pipes to the TB, IC, and Turbo which would be cheaper and easy to fabricate than using a Wiggins of Vangen (http://www.vibrantperformance.com/ca...Path=1250_1522) So that the 22-24 Psi I'm running dosn't blow the pipes apart which has always been a huge problem for me.

I too ordered mine but if you are changing the shifter make sure you spec out everything and order correct measurements. It will save you a lot of stress in the long run.
