    Leaking Gas Cap

Has anyone had problems with the gas cap leaking? Every time I drive my car, I notice dirt all around the trunk area. The cause, I discovered yesterday, was that gasoline is literally coming out of the gas cap. I have concluded that the O-ring is not being compressed by the cam lock mechanism. I tightened up the lock nut as far as I could but it still seems to just "flop" over with little resistance.

Does anyone have a fix for this? How about an upgraded cap (screw type) that fits to the body / bolt pattern?

Maybe put more washers under cam lock.

Sounds like this is a safety issue and you should contact F5.

The center part of my cap is much different that yours.
Have you tried to replace the o-ring?

I had the same problem and fixed it with a new o-ring.

Bill, do you have the same cap? If so, let me know what size O-ring you replaced it with. I consider that, but the groove looks limited if I updated with a larger cross-section (3/16"). I did add a spacer under the came lock and that appeared to make it better, but need to fill up the tank again to see if it still leaks.

    Tim,

It looks like the same cap, I'm sorry but i just matched it up to an o-ring out of my parts supply for my shop.
