    Fuel Tank Bolt

    Guys,

The photo below shows my fuel tank strap hookup. I turned down the fuel tank edges around the front and rear straps. The kit provided a 3/8" X 2" bolt for making this attachment. This bolt was too short so I used a 3/8" X 2-1/2". This hookup looks kind of funky. Is this the way it should look or am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks for your input.

    Damien

You're not alone! I used a piece of aluminum tubing over the bolt and between the strap end and frame tab to help keep it straight. I also swapped out the black oxide bolts for stainless after other builders recommended it due to the bolts rusting.

Bang on Damien. And YES to the stainless swop out, unless you live in New Mexico and will never see a wet road.

    Papa,

I just replaced the bolts and added the tubing. Great tip, thanks.
