Weather Stripping Holding Up Front Edge of Hood

I have installed Mike Everson's D shaped weather stripping around the hood opening, now the front edge of my hood will not sit down where it is supposed to be. The front edge of the hood is about 3/16" above the surrounding body work. How do I fix this?

    Thanks.

I did not put weatherstripping across the very front of the hood opening. I started the weatherstripping a few inches up from the front edge. This allowed adjustment so the hood aligns to the front of the car.

The D weatherstripping will compress to dang near flat over time. How much time though is a guess.
