    O2 sensor wire routing

I’ve got the body on the car & need to route the wire for the O2 sensor. The wire is behind the dash left of the steering wheel & needs to go to the left side pipe. My plan is to route the wire down the outside of the foot box (still inside the body just aft of the expanding foam).

To get to the sensor I can (1) cut a 1/4” - 1/2” wide slot in the lip where the body rolls under the frame & put a grommet around the wire at the top of the slot; (2) cut a 1” hole in the body just above the lip, push the sensor through the hole & secure the wire with a grommet; or (3) pinch the wire between the body & the frame. I’m leaning towards option 1 but am concerned about compromising the strength/stiffness that the lip provides to the body.

    Thoughts/comments?

I am about to tackle the same issue this weekend. Seem impossible to locate the sensor in the recommended upper half of the collector, but would be nice to route the wire so it isn't vulnerable beneath the car. Interested to see what others have done.
