    You guys get an A+

As my kit is almost here, just wanted to thank everyone so far for the helpful hints and ideas to make this a great build. One thing that you all get an A+ for is helping me spend my money. I started off on this journey wanting to be miserly but still getting what I wanted to get accomplished, but you all have helped me far exceed that...so thank you....I think. Additions that I never anticipated that I can credit the forum directly include:

    1. IRS
    2. Power Steering
    3. Hydraulic Clutch
    4. Lokar Throttle Cable
    5. CNC Triple Resevoir Kit
    6. CNC Pressure Bleeder Lid
    7. Driveshaft Safety Loop
    8. Russ Thompson Turn Signals
    9. Battery Box
    10. Herbs Door Panels
    11. Thermotec Insulation
    12. Radiator Shroud
    13. Boig Cool Tubes
    14. Quick Jack Cover Plates
    15. Front/Rear Bumper Grommets
    16. Lower Radiator Mount
    17. Honeycomb Radiator Protector
    18. Windshield, Steering, Trans and Seat Belt Bezels/Trim Plates
    19. Lucas Toggle Switches
    20. Under dash filler Panel
    21. Heat Shields for Exhaust

The time is almost here and I'm very excited. That being said, remind me never to take any of you to buy a new car or house....

Ha, I am in the same boat waiting for my kit to arrive. I am trying to hold tight on where I am now as far as upgrades but a lot of your list I have gotten or probably will get where relevant to the coupe. I have decided to tell myself that if I do everything right to begin with, what am I going to do the winter after completion when I want to work on it? Tools and fixing up my garage have been a big temptation for me though. My garage was unfinished, unorganized, and dark, so I have spent a good bit in there making it a good workspace and getting some needed tools.

Not yet. BUT, Jolene had told me that it would be picked up by the end of last week, and then 3-5 days for delivery. Now, I haven't received confirmation just yet, so I'm keeping my calendar open.

Same here as I love to tinker, BUT, I also look at it like I did when we built the house. What do I need to do now that would either be impossible or very difficult to do later. I know I'll still have one of those moments, but trying to cut it off at the pass anyway.

    Feedback, FWIW:

#15, for grommets. I'm assuming **********. I'm a big fan of the front ones. Have used on every build. I personally don't see any point for the rear ones. JMHO.

#18, trim plates. The kit comes windshield and shifter (trans) trim rings. They're decent pieces and no reason not to use them IMO. Have been on all my builds. The kit doesn't include anything for the steering column, and Mike's trim ring looks nice with the RT turn signal. Some discussion about whether the trim ring works with the new design turn signal assembly based on the FF change. But no reason it shouldn't be fine. Mike's seat belt trim rings are also a nice touch.

This is exactly the way to approach it. One nice side benefit w/ tools is there will be quite a few more than you expect situations over the next several years where a tool bought to build a cobra will work just great on some house project. There will be a real satisfaction when you need to fix something, go to the garage for a tool, and maybe a material or two, and the fix is done w/ NO trip to the hardware store. yeehaw!

I’m with you there! Although not always the best choice, especially for battery operated tools, I love me some Harbor Freight!

Thanks Ducky. The heat shields that I have listed are the ones that go around the mufflers to avoid burns. That said, I’ve thought about heat shields but had not seen pics of anything. How much space do you have between it and the footwell? Also, are those nylon spacers? I’m assuming they do well with the radiant heat.

Okay - My turn to help you spend a few more $$$. I'm a big fan of the Breeze seat mounting setup and don't forget the seat heaters (wait; probably a pass in Florida). Looking forward to following your progress.

Definitely a pass on these heaters Dave! I usually wear flip flops and shorts on Christmas Day! Your build thread has been one of my go tos, and has given me a lot of guidance which is greatly appreciated! I look forward to seeing you finish up, get painted and on the road!

You mean like when I used my nut-sert tool to create attachments for my solar shade brackets on my steel gazebo? My wife even commented on how nice it was that I was getting more use out of a tool she thought was not necessary.

My Kit was completed June 9th. Was supposed to be picked up last week as well. Update I received was that 4 of the owners that were scheduled to be on the load could not take delivery when the truck would have arrived. Not real clear how the scheduling will be done now. I'm outside Milwaukee WI.

Let me add something, gas struts for the trunk lid. Not expensive and work very well. #4, throttle linkage. I bought the mechanical linkage from Forte, very nice and looks cool.

Yes, the spacers are nylon. I've got 500 miles and no issues, not melting. The spacers are 1/2" long. On the PS, the lip on the side of the footbox heat shield is spaced approx 3/16" out (no spacers). Any more that 1/2" and I'd be running into the header on the DS.

Just got an update from Jolene. Not going to be here this week unfortunately. Apparently, the Stewart FFR truck is in CA as we speak and is making his way back to FFR. Should be there by Friday. I'm told that he will then pick up my kit then or on Monday (7/2), and deliver by next Friday (7/6). That would be ideal as I would take the day off, but not sure how many trucks they have running as I live in Florida.

Yeah, I threw those two around. Mechanical linkage is another $100 from the Lokar cable update but is nice. And will definitely add the struts, but I can probably do at another time.

I think they have three trucks running and I would guess the California truck is now in Washington, then Colorado, then to Mass to load up again. My kit just got dropped off in Colorado by another truck that has 8 additional kits on it for delivery. I was the first one off this afternoon but I am not sure where else it is headed. I think they have a third truck that runs the east coast but I can't tell you for sure.

Congrats! I'm sure that you had happy to have it in hand! After reading a few threads, I'm not too confident on the told delivery schedule, but still have faith so we'll see. Would be great to have before Friday of next week.

Latest update I received is could be delivered July 8/9 but will be out of town so next option is 12/13/14. This sounds good but I leave for Europe on the 15th so will be a bit white knuckle if the truck runs late. My son would be available to take delivery, but dang, not something I would want to miss. On the positive side this provides time to get the driveway repaved before delivery.
