look like the rear end pumpkin is to close PROBLEM SOLVED
take a look at these pic , it looks to me that the cross member is much to close to the pumpkin< not sure what to do, Herb

After a week of scratching my head clearance problem solved see pic, The axle is a rebuilt alxe and the original owner welded on shackle extensions of almost 5 inches , So all I need to do is cut off the extensions and use the original shackle hole ,

I looks like your lower control arms are correct. Where are you in the suspension travel? Full Droop?
I have the moser rear end and it has a much less pronounced diff cover.
I just went and checked mine and it looks fine.
Here's how you test - get 2 ratchet straps. Warp one around each side of the axel and the top tube of the frame where the bed will sit (there's a nice 2"x2" tube there.
Ratchet until your suspension is bottomed out - then you know.

This depresses me. I just bought this weekend, and will take delivery by Friday of a G2 Aluminum cover. The cheap shiny Moser one, lacks a drain and fill plug. Bummer.

The moser has a fill plug. On the passenger side just rearward of the pinion.
It does not have a drain plug - gotta pop the cover.

I have the Moser stud girdle cover just like that for mine but also the stock style one just in case. On the S197 Mustangs, you have to relocate the panhard to clear that cover. I was assuming that it wasn't likely going to fit and it looks like you're having the same issue.

Herb. I backed off on my spring perch's all the way and lowered the truck down. It will only hit if the suspension totally is collapsed. I personally are not worried. I doubt it would ever come to that.

Herb, those are traction brackets, very common on S197 cars. It points the control arm at a more downward angle to help hit the tire harder when launching at the drag strip.

Thanks now I know , I was thinking they were used l in the day like ladder bars were used so same effect !
did they come standard or owner applied
