8.8 donor brake set up questions/answers Tips and Pics
I've got my 8.8 basically built, at this point I'm working on the brakes. The rear end is from a 95 GT. I have installed the shorter Fox length axles(thanks Mike E!) now the issue is putting the calipers on. Is there a way to make the 95 caliper parts work or do I have to source different stuff. I have read about the 11.65" set up on the 03-04 Cobras but was hoping on making what I have work. Any input would be GREAT!!!!!

You can use all the 95 stuff but you will need offset brackets. FFR sells them.

For back round info, the calipers are the same GT vs Cobra. The Cobra rotors were a larger diameter and also thicker vented vs solid. The diameter difference means the mounting brackets are different. The rotor thickness difference means the pads are different thickness.

I have seen that you can cut your brackets so they mount inside the mounts on the axle. Pretty common for guys putting discs on fox Mustangs I think. I think if you google search you should find pics.

Out Drivin'
I have a '94 8.8 with Fox length axles and the 11.65" rotors from the SVT Cobra of that year. I used the aluminum brackets that flip the caliper location to make it work. Note that this will also require rerouting the parking brake cables and, if I remember correctly, the anti-moan brackets - but those things not an issue.

I have seen the after market brackets and figured they don't look to complicated to fabricate and I'll always try to come up with something instead of just running out and buying a part. Probably why all my projects take so long!! So after lots of searching Mustang forums I found, and its what Murd had suggested the cut and mount the bracket inside the flange trick.
Start with your brackets....flat side to the flange means left stays on the left...right stays on the right...this also moves the caliper to the front...

Quick cut with the cut off wheel..

Make sure to chamfer the inside edge to sit flush against the flange...

Looking for the .750" on each side that the Fox length axles lack...I ended up right around .800", the caliper slide pins can adjust themselves to that!!

On the other forum some guys put the cut out piece back in, some guys didn't. This guy did!! A couple tacks...

After that piece was welded and painted...

And done. Free since I had everything here, an hours worth of time, and I'm cheap labor!!! Just have to install my axles and trim my caliper brackets a bit and the rear end is good to go!!!

www.northracecars.com Go to brakes, our SN95 bracket is what is needed. We make the part that bolts on. The rube goldberg of cut up stock brackets is just dangerous.

Richard your stuff looks great!! I just posted this for the people that don't want to or can't fork over the $170 for your brackets. If you have the skills, cutting these brackets is no different than cutting out the frame work for the trunk mods.
