Accel Pedal and Forte Mechanical Linkage

I was getting ready to install the accelerator pedal and of course, the instructions only accommodate the cable linkage. I 'don't think' I can install the Forte assembly until I have the engine in, as I don't know how the linkage is going to align, so do I follow the accelerator installation instructions as written up to the cable install?

There was a thread in the last week or so here or on the other forum discussing this w/ pics from several posters.

You can certainly install the foot box section of the linkage before the engine goes in.

Take a look at the first picture in post #16 here: https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/show...inkage-Install

That shows you where the rod ends (the red ones in the picture) mount to the firewall. The position of the rod end closest to the pedal is pretty much already determined - as close to the 2" square frame member as you can get it and just outside the foot box side wall. Hold the pivot rod so that it's level and drill your hole in the side wall. Slide the rod into place, and you can mock up the pedal side of the linkage.

Be sure to check the clearance between the pivot arms and the top of the foot box.

I have the same linkage and spent a ton of time on this. IMHO pedal placement is one of the most important parts of the build.
I drilled different mounting holes for the throttle pedal to move it away from the foot box wall a bit. Also made a stop for the pedal at full throttle, you don’t want your full throttle stop to be the carb/efi.
I mounted my linkage through the 2”x2” frame instead of just the firewall aluminum so that it was nice and solid, just had to get some longer bolts. You can start this now but you need to have the engine in to finish it.
    Good luck

I uesd edwardb's parts list for his linkage. I also used Russ Thompson's accellerator pedal. Very nice setup.
