Coyote Fuel Delivery - Forte's supplied filter

    IMG_20180908_152716588[1].jpg

Working on mocking up the locations for the flex and hard lines. To do this I need an "aiming" point, so I need to locate the fuel filter.

I bought a Coyote crate setup from Mike Forte, and he included the pump, filter, and quick connect flex lines. The dilemma is the fuel filter.

It has a 5/16" inlet & outlet, but on the inlet side it also has a 1/4" fitting. What is this??

Is it a connection point for the fuel return? Instead of dumping it back in the tank, it just sends it back into the system via the filter?

(I can't blow or suck through this fitting, it appears it's sealed - or I can't generate enough vacuum or pressure (via mouth) to open an internal check valve).

The 1/4 goes right back to the return on the tank. This is a filter/regulator. you will have to blow pretty hard to overcome it. This is a great way to plumb the Coyote. No fire wall mounted regulator or expensive fuel hoses needed.
I do all mine this way.

    Alright!!

This does make the plumbing incredibly easier! Turns a half-day job into a few hours!
    I wasn't aware there was such a device/filter. Is this a stock/common/OEM part?... Mustang?

My firewall was already getting pretty busy with "stuff", and hanging the supplied regulator with it's klooge of hoses & adapters was really a buzz-kill. Just having a single hard-line coming forward with a single "flare-to-quick connect" adapter to the fuel rail is my kind of simple. (K.I.S.S. principle all the way).

(I love Mike, and his service is impeccable - but he's a little lacking on instructions for the parts he supplies in a kit).

That's a GM part. Used I believe on Corvettes. Maybe others. Full disclosure, some questions that (1) the pressure is fixed and is a couple pounds different than what Ford recommends, and (2) doesn't allow the fuel pressure regulator to have a vacuum reference like the Ford and FFR Coyote instructions show. But bottom line it's an easier installation, cheaper, and many have used it successfully.
