Took a leap of faith today and bought a pair of Mickey Thompson SS Street Radials to replace the 10 year old Goodyear F1's on the Hot Rod. The Goodyear tires were 285 /40/17 and the Mickey Thompsons are 315/35/17. The American Racing Torque Thrust II Rims are a custom set, 11.5 Inches wide with a backspace of 6 inches. The Goodyear tires are a little taller in diameter but an inch narrower and the tire compound for the Goodyears is much harder. The Goodyears were over 10 years old and held up the tread wear very well but they were not good for traction. The Mickey Thompsons seem to have a softer Compund and hook very well. They are less than 26 inches in diameter. If you are reading this for any reason wanting to do some of it I would point out that the differential is an adjustable 4-Link from Dan Ruth's Innovative Rodding Specialists. The adjustable 4-Link allows me to move the differential rearward about an inch.
