Wiper inspection California?

I'm wondering if it's worth the gamble to go for California CHP and BAR inspections without a windshield wiper installed. I have to start from scratch, and it seems like a waste of time and money only to take it off later. It's a fair-weather-ride! 'anybody sneaked through with only RainX?

I went to CHP for the VIN and to BAR and no one asked about wipers and I
now have a title and plates, I have an 818C .

I had a lot of trouble with CHP, but wipers was not one of them.

I didn't have (and still don't) have wipers on mine and it wasn't an issue.

That's some good news (except the part about "CHP trouble"!). I got my sequence number Wednesday, CHP visit in 2 weeks. 'didn't quite make my "this summer" goal, but I predict some drivable days ahead!

I'm planning to install a temporary over the windshield wiper. They have wipers that just clamp to the top of the windshield and are activated by button.

I have it all in and works , but need to shorten arms so they are not on. I had a CHP officer that had his own idea of what should be on the road!

Good luck with the CHP visit, in my case that one was easy it was the BAR that I needed 2 attempts to get through.

Thanks Steve. Care to expand on your BAR experience? Was it the office on Santa Teresa?

To get through the BAR with my car (an exocar, not FF), I had to have wipers. They wanted two of them and they had to be electric, not manual. Obviously, the particular BAR you go to is important because not all of them seem to have this demand. I went to the one in northern San Diego county.

They went through all the paperwork carefully. On the first pass, even through the CHP didn't require brake and light certs, the BAR did. I also used a heater hose to replace the PCV pipe on the motor and failed since it wasn't fuel rated. So back home to replace the heater hose and a trip to get the brakes and lights inspected. Once those were done I scheduled another appointment with them and the signed off.
