    Saab 99 Turbo - 1978 project

Posting this for a car buddy in metro Detroit, we go to all the car shows together, car is in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Needs Restoration (inside and out), project or parts car.
    Saab 99 Turbo - 1978
    One of 3,450 US Spec
    Approx. 125,000 miles
Has sat for last 10 years, 8 of them outside
Full engine rebuild 3,500 miles ago

Ran when he parked it, hasn't tried to turn it over in many years, is trying to unlock the brakes as I type this. Will need to be trailered.

    $500.00 OBO

    Has title
    Insured with Hagerty
    Historic Plate
    Car color is Black

    Additional info:
    Has original Inca wheels (magnesium)
    Original 4-speed upgraded to 1980's Saab 900 5-speed
Oversized Turbo (water cooled) with custom intercooler.

Some parts such as the headlights and taillights are in boxes stored in garage it's parked in front of, they were removed for body and paint prep years ago that was never completed.

My friend Bruce doesn't have Internet access or a smart phone, I'll try to get pictures later.

    Bruce: (248) 426-6688

He has another old Saab, I'm not sure which one I've seen before so I cannot attest to the current condition other than what he's told me over the phone.

I looked at the car today, wasn't as bad as I had imagined, some rust inside of wheel wells, some on the front chin that gets covered with a fiberglass spoiler that is stored inside of the car.

Owner says he has all the chrome trim for the windows, extra interior panels , all the door hardware, vents, lights, grilles and so forth. The car is filled with stuff, he even has a couple of extra wheels.

He has original transmission in another garage across town, will toss that in if you want it.

From what I could see of the dash it looked good, steering wheel looked good, front seats need to be restored or replaced. Car needs a new headliner.

The pan looked solid to me, the rockers were solid, and so was underneath the car.
Oh yea, the intercooler was removed and is inside of the car, it was removed to do some body work and needs to be hooked back up.

Bruce got the two rear wheels unfrozen and spinning, was about to start on the front when I left.

Included a couple of photos of some faded photocopies of the car in it's glory days with water cooled intercooler installed.

I'm calling this car the Swedish Rat Rod Special.

Picture of some of the chrome trim just sitting on the dash board ready to be installed.

As it was explained to me he started taking it apart to do some body work that was never completed and the car just sat.

    It's a shame.
