    The Milano Project

Well it’s finally happened. Last Saturday I picked up the new project from the previous owner Chuck, where he was storing the kit. It’s been partially started, but not too far and I intend to take things apart and do my own changes and validate other parts of the build. We even got a surprise when some of our Gateway Cobra Club members, out for a drive, stopped by. The car is now home and the preliminary inventory is complete.

One of the biggest decisions with many of us for these builds is colors. I’m lucky I guess that I’ve been obsessed with it for a couple of years and I’ve already got the colors picked. As most of you know I’m a big Marvel fan. Once I saw the Guardians Of the Galaxy, my color scheme was set. The main character, Peter Quill, has a Blue and Orange spaceship called the Milano and thus the name of my build.

I’ve always loved Blue and Orange and now I can have them together. Also my father worked in the space industry for most of his life and even worked on the Mercury and Gemini capsules to send our first Americans into space. This one will be for him too. He always loved fast cars.

Here’s the idea for the build
    • MK4 with Dual Rollbars
    • T3 GT35 Twin Turbos with intercooler Utilizing a progressive boost limit in every gear.
    • Dart SHP Block w/ Forged 331 Rotating assembly
    • AFR 195 Competition Heads
    • Custom ground cam (Comp or Lunati)
    • MSD 85221 Cam Sync Plug
    • Holley HP Plus EFI System with 1000 cfm Throttle Body
    • Holley Coil packs
    • Edlebrock EFI RPM Intake
    • TKO-600RR Transmission
    • Custom Center Console Dash
    • MGW Shifter and new Shift ball
    • IRS with 3.27:1 Rear Diff
    • FR500 Deep Dish Chrome Rims
    • Chrome Quickjacks
    • Two tone grey leather interior and carpet
    • Re-covered leather Kirkey lowback classic race seats
    • Hidden Radio sound system

Here is the new,to me, kit at the previous owner's temporary storage location.

Here’ s a pic of the car at home in the garage next to #4402, ready for the fun to commence.

First thing is to dis-assemble the rear end and have new gears installed. While that is happening I'll get some of the other odds and ends cleaned up to a uniform starting point and go from there. I've been planning this for years, so really going to enjoy the build process and shamelessly copy some of the great features others on this forum have done as well. We have a great group of people in the Gateway Cobra Club, so any help I need, I'll be drawing from them.
