All I can say is Holy Sh*t, went out for a drive yesterday morning it was around 44 degrees here, wasn't driving aggressively at all. Got on it a little no more than usual in a straight line and broke the rear tires loose without trying. I had no idea these tires kumho ecsta xs were that sensitive to cold temperatures. All I could think of was those you-tube vids of people wrecking Cobras. All's well that ends well, lesson learned on the cheap.
Most of the manufactures of summer performance tires urge caution at temps below 55F. The compounds don't work well and the construction does not flex as intended.
Oh yeah. I ran Kumho XS for a few years; anything below 60 degrees you have to be pretty cautious but virtually any performance tire will be the same. As you go up the UTQG treadwear ratings they become less sensitive to low temps but of course their ultimate traction is lower.
A few years ago, I sold a Mercedes Benz SL500 to a guy from California. He flew to Colorado and took delivery of the car in the middle of a snow storm and drove it back over the Rockies. After pampering that car, which had never seen snow, I about cried watching him almost loop the car while still in my driveway. Big, wide summer performance tires and freezing, snowy conditions do not make a smart combination.
We learned this in 2015 when my wife's 2015 Mustang GT w/ Perf Package and summer tires started doing the same in September. These have turned out to be fantastic tires all year long.

yeah I may have to look into new tires, I'm having a Whitby Top put on the car and I have heat so I'd like to drive it well into fall and early winter. Not a very good selection in our tire sizes though especially for the rear 315-35/17 seems an odd size
